Pump was easy to install with the slip unions provided and Hayward pool pump is performing well. The strainer lid is a little hard to remove,but provides a tight fit.

Good replacement for an older pump
Purchased this pump to replace my original Hayward pump for our above ground pool. Installation was a snap. Just disconnected the old pump and connected this one.

Tried to purchase this same unit locally at a pool store. Their best price was $345.00. The Amazon price was much more affordable.

This pump seems to be quieter than the original it replaced. Also this unit does not pump at the same rate/force as my old pump. But it is sufficient for the 18' round above pool I have for the kids.

Needless to say, we were a little skeptical at the "40 gpm" claim in the name but were certainly proven wrong as soon as we got it up an running. Our old pump didn't need to be replaced because it was broken, it just didn't seem to be doing the job, and it was rated at 37 gpm. (the true output was nothing like this Hayward SP1540C Power-Flo model). this pump works wonders and actually moves water. Hopefully anyone else who gets it, gets the same results.
